TREATMENT APPROACHES

Below you will find several of our specialized treatment approaches

Somatic Experiencing (SE™)
Somatic Experiencing (SE™)
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a trauma healing modality that works with the felt sense of the body. This body-oriented approach was created by Dr. Peter Levine who studied the nervous system’s reactions in times of stress or trauma and how the body naturally resolves high stress physiological states. This somatic modality works with fight, flight, freeze and flow systems of the body and its goal is to bring the body back into nervous system coherence (balance). Often during times of shock or distress, our bodies become stuck in dysregulated states. SE™ therapists provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states, focus on the autonomic nervous system and help clients come back into a natural state of self-regulation and coherence.

** Contact Ilsa Araki, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, for a brief phone consult to learn if SE™ could be a good fit for you.
Internal Family Systems (IFS™)
Internal Family Systems (IFS™)
Internal Family Systems (IFS™) therapy is a non-pathologizing approach to therapy, and can support individuals in decreasing anxiety, improving relationships, or recovering from PTSD or trauma. IFS™ emphasizes the natural multiplicity of the mind, and brings the whole system together which allows individuals to become more Self-led. The natural result of this healing is a reduction in problematic/symptomatic behavior. The initial goal is to support individuals in identifying and connecting with parts of themself that have worked in protector roles from triggers, or perceived harm. After, individuals can connect with hurt parts and engage in inner healing. The ultimate goal of IFS is to increase an individual's access to their core Self so that they can be more Self-led.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR™)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR™)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR™) is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Ongoing research continues to reveal this as an effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®)
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®)
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection.

** Contact Shannon Hogg, Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner, for a brief phone consult to learn if TBRI™ could be a good fit for you.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT™)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT™)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT™) is an approach that is used to reduce distress in relationships and create more secure attachment bonds. This approach to couples therapy, developed by Dr. Sue Johnson and Dr. Les Greenberg, reflects the priority given to emotion as a key organizer of inner experiences and key interactions in intimate relationships. This approach can help couples form a more secure emotional bond, which can result in stronger relationships and improved communications.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT™)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT™)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT™) a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), teaches individuals how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others. DBT is effective in supporting substance use disorders, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), depression, anxiety, and emotional regulation. Through DBT practices, individuals can learn skills for new ways of thinking, the use of mindfulness, and healthy habits for focus and decreased stress.
